Jami was born in Springfield, Illinois, but moved to Pagosa Springs when she was only 7 years old. After high school, she attended Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison where she majored in English with a creative writing emphasis and a minor in sociology. Jami also ran Division II Cross Country at Western. A year later, she returned to Western State Colorado University to earn her masters degree. Jami was lucky enough to be invited back to her hometown school district to teach and coach cross country. She is passionate about reading and writing and loves to share these passions with her students. She also loves hiking, camping, backpacking, cross country skiing, and playing frisbee golf with her husband, Shean, and dog, Albert.
