Navigating the 21st Century
All staff value and work diligently to develop strong computer skills in our students so they can maximize their learning. All students have a Google Education Account, and they learn to fully utilize email, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Sites, Google Classroom and store all their academic work on the cloud. Approximately 600 wireless Chromebooks are available to students as well as high speed, filtered access to the internet for academic learning. Students can also log in to the wireless network using their own devices as well. Most academic classrooms have SMART boards, document cameras and projectors to enhance digital learning. Recently, through grant funding, we have added a small 3-dimensional printing lab with three printers to facilitate learning in the area of science and technology.
Google-Based Student Resumes
As we continue to improve an educational system focused on developing well-round young adults, all middle school students engage in developing Google-based student resumes. These resumes reflect five competencies – academic, professional, entrepreneurial, personal and civic. Students learn to utilize Google Sites to highlight their personalized goals and document learning progress in a digital portfolio. This strength-based, individualized approach allows each student to highlight his/her talents and share a comprehensive view of their education while learning valuable computer and workforce skills. Students will share these during both the fall and spring parent-teacher conferences.
