School Awards
Pagosa Springs Middle School was awarded the Outstanding Programming Award by the American Council on Rural School Education for the exemplary implementation of the Response to Intervention model providing greater time and academic support to students.
Three times, the Colorado Education Initiative and Colorado Health Foundation awarded Pagosa Springs Middle School the Healthy School Champion Excellence award. The middle school received the Governor's Award for being the top-rated Healthy School Champion in Colorado for its coordination of student fitness, health & wellness programming.
Staff Awards
Eighth grade physical fitness & health teacher and coach, Keith Candelaria received the All Heart Award for his dedication and outstanding regional assistant coach efforts.
Former eighth grade social studies teacher, Scott White, received the 9News Teachers Who Care Award.
Chris Hinger, principal of Pagosa Springs Middle School, was awarded the Healthy School Champion Principal by the Colorado Health Foundation for his leadership in ensuring that students have access to daily fitness and health classes.
